The Mural at MSS

MSS is an abbreviation for the “Montserrat Secondary School”. It is the school that my sister attends. She is in Form 3.

MSS is close to MCC. That stands for the Montserrat Community College. There was a netball match where the MSS girls beat the MCC girls but that is a story that I will tell you about it in another blog.

If you look closely at the picture below, you will see something amazing on the wall at MSS. It is called a Mural.

My sister painted this mural with her friends in the MSS-MVO after school club. When she told me about it, I was so excited and I really wanted to go to see it for myself. I was lucky to get a picture with my sister and some of her friends. My sister is sitting on the far right in the picture below.

My favourite part of the mural was the rainbow and the clouds.

The mural has some beautiful features of Montserrat: The volcano, the buried capital, the endemic orchid, the oriole, the heliconia and the elephant ears. I saw fruits too. The soursop, plumrose, starfruit and my favourite, the mango. Have a closer look and see if you can find them.

I love to see the green graduation caps too! It reminded me of when my sister graduated from the Brades Primary School (BPS) three years ago. That is the school that I attend now. Look closely and you can see the BPS uniform top under her gown.

We did a fun photshoot after her gradution day. I was so little back then, right? Yes! I was just finishing preschool too!

My sister gave a speech at the unveiling ceremony for the mural. She said she was nervous, but I knew that she would be awesome!

There will be more murals placed around the island. I can’t wait to see them! This one was very beautiful.

You can read more about it in the link below:
